Animals of Rosy Mound

There are many animals in Rosy Mound.  Here are just a few.

Beach-

Virtually nothing can live on the beach .  This is because the beach to foredune is an ever changing environment due to wind, waves, snow and ice formations. But some animals visit it frequently like the seagull. The seagull visits the beach to search for food that has washed up on the beach and in the water.  They help keep the decomposing organisms off the beach.

Foredune-
The foredune is also subject to harsh weather conditions like strong winds, storm waves, and extreme temperatures.  Hardy plants like marram grass can survive in the foredune giving a safe haven for some animals and insects to survive.  The sand wolf spider can live in the foredune because he can burrow deep to escape the extreme temperatures.  It is also brown to camouflage into the sand making this an ideal home.

Trough-
The Monarch Butterfly is well adapted to live in the trough.  They can fly good in the wind and they can reproduce on milkweed in the trough.

Backdune-

There are many animals that live in the backdune.  One that is prominent is the deer. There are lots of trees and vegetation in the backdune providing a great habitat for the deer.  They also have protection from predators because they have trees to hide and blend in with.
